Film about Markakol Lenok – Brachymystax lenok
“Symbol of Lake Markakol” is a film about the past and present of Markakol mountain lake, the symbol of which is lenok – species of fish in the family Salmonidae. The lake has a magnetising force and dazzles with its beauty. Markakol is the only lake with a large population of lenoks that attracts many visitors to it. Fishing helped local population survive in difficult times. But fish stock will eventually become scarce and even nowadays reservation conditions do not provide required level of protection for the lake from poachers. Swamp formation of the rivers and pollution pose a threat to Markakol lenok. Local residents believe that piscivorous birds – cormorants – that have recently populated the shore of the lake - attribute to lenok population reduction. Do the lake and Markakol lenok have any future amongst all these contradictions? The first episode of the firm tells the viewer about breeding of Markakol lenok and reveals the secrets of its early development. Two more episodes are dedicated to problematic issues of integrity of this salmon species in the lake.
The second film "The Symbol of Lake Markakol and Man" continues the story of Markakol goldilocks. Lake Markakol is a protected lake, but the number of goldilocks continues to decline. Why this happens, what is the main reason for the tragedy of this kind - the authors of the film and the locals of the Marakol region think about this.
